The city of Smithville is distributing free bottled water to city residents Friday afternoon at the Smithville Recreation Center. The city is currently under a boil-water notice.

Smithville residents can pick up free bottled water during a distribution event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Smithville Recreation Center, at 106 Royston St. in Smithville.

The city acquired two pallets of bottled water to distribute to residents in need as a result of this week's winter storms, which have led to Smithville currently being under a boil-water notice.

There is a limit of one case of bottled water per family during Friday's distribution event while supplies last.

People planning to get water must show a driver's license or other paperwork, such as a utility bill, to confirm they are Smithville resident.
