Where to get free water and donate water in Austin and Central Texas

As power outages subside across Central Texas after a freezing winter storm, many residents' pressing crisis has become the search for water. All around the region, water outages have been reported, and the city of Austin is under a boil water notice.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler said 1 million gallons of water were being shipped from neighboring states to Austin on Friday for distribution. City Manager Spencer Cronk said water distribution information is expected to be shared sometime Friday evening.

Local organizations and businesses are stepping up to help those in need. Here's where to find free, potable water and where to donate it if you have extra.

Owners Josh Mit and John Snyder fill water containers for free water distribution at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021. Snyder says they have been boiling water the last two days straight with a break to sleep. About 200 gallons were given away Thursday and so far a 1,000 gallons Friday.
